The Solarize Northampton Program was a Success!

Overwhelming participation in the Solarize Northampton program means over 100 Northampton homeowners are about to start reducing their bills with over 700 kW of clean solar power! The program was successful in reaching the lowest price tier of $3.44 per Watt for everyone who signed up.

While this exceptional price is no longer available since the program is closed, Northampton homeowners can still switch to clean energy and save money on their electricity bills with a home solar system from Real Goods Solar for as little as $0 down. What is Solarize Northampton?

Solarize Northampton is a partnership between the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, the Department of Energy Resources Green Communities Division, local officials, and community volunteers. The program is organized through Solarize Mass, which is now in its third year and responsible for more than 900 low-cost, small-scale solar electric systems statewide.

Through the program, Northampton residents have access to solar education events, low or $0 down system financing, and tiered community pricing. As more community home and business owners sign up to go solar, the price falls for everyone! It all adds up to a unique opportunity for residents to help make Northampton greener while saving money at the same time.

The Solarize Northampton program is now closed.

Why Solar?

Solar is a clean, renewable source of energy that promotes American job growth and supports domestic energy independence. In most situations, the simplicity and proximity of solar PV systems make their electricity less expensive than utility power. They are reliable, noiseless, and add value to your property without increasing your property taxes.

"I always thought solar would be too expensive for us, but due to the tax incentives and Solarize Northampton we will get a full return on our investment in 4 to 5 years. One day, maybe soon, we'll be able to plug a car into our house, save a lot of money and say 'Good riddance' to the Exxons of this world."
